Do You Know About......The 20 Grand

Peace,

I wanna introduce a segment in the blog called "Do You Know About..." and its basically a way to share a little knowledge about the history of Detroit's past. The first edition is about a famed nightclub in Detroit, that was the place to be for more than 2 decades, the legendary "20 Grand"
.
If you grew up in Detroit during the 1960's, the name 20 Grand was synonymous for being know as the spot to see and be seen.

On the first floor of The 20 Grand there was a bowling alley and a fireside lounge that was used as a jazz room. On the upper floor there was a room called the Gold Room, which consist of a large banquet and a cabaret hall which could seat up to 1,200 people.

Name's like Redd Foxx, The Temptations, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and anyone associated with Motown stepped through the doors of the 20 Grand

Side Note: The reason I named the store DSE @ Grand is not because its located on Grand River. I originally named the store DSE Grand in honor of the 20 Grand, though last minute I decided to add the @ to make it simpler for people.
